“Where do you see Charlotte in 2015?”
The Crossroads Charlotte Teen Theater Project will be answering that very question during its final performance this Saturday, August 15, 2pm at Theatre Charlotte, 501 Queens Road.
The show is free and open to the public.
The Project provided 12 high school students from across Charlotte the opportunity to learn about the negative impact of violence, discover ways to engage in reducing youth and gang violence, and to explore, appreciate and respect the differences and similarities that form the fabric of our community.
Participants then used these experiences to develop performance pieces they have presented across Charlotte this year.
The Crossroads Charlotte Teen Theater Project is an expansion of the successful Community Theater-Theater About Community initiative presented by the Community Relations Committee (CRC) in May 2007 as a result of their work with Crossroads Charlotte. In collaboration with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department/Gang of One, the Community Relations Committee sought to expand this proven initiative to teens in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Community.
Actors from the original production were invited to mentor and support the teen actors throughout the process.
