ATTENTION MATTHEWS RESIDENTS -- FREE WORKSHOPS!

Learn Filmmaking, Photography, or Fiber Arts! All workshops are FREE and will be held at the Matthews Community Center. Bring your Friends and Family!


Workshop Dates and Times:

Saturday, September 12 from 12noon-2:00pm – Photography and Film only
Saturday, September 19 from 12noon-2:00pm – Photo, Film, and Fiber
Saturday, September 26 from 12noon-2:00pm – Photo, Film, and Fiber

All Three workshops will be held during the same time/date. Choose ONE to attend!

Children under 13-years-old need to be accompanied by an adult.

Feel Free to bring snacks or bag lunch if necessary.


Workshop Descriptions:


Documentary Filmmaking: Capture the Story of Crestdale with Filmmaking Learn to make films and shoot an actual documentary! Learn how to brainstorm, shoot, light, and direct a short documentary film. Then document Crestdale Community and its people from your perspective. All equipment is provided. * Bring a notebook for sketching.


Conceptual Photography: Tell your story with pictures.
This workshop will teach students how to take incredible pictures and how to use photography as a way of storytelling. After hands-on instruction, students will be sent off with cameras to photograph themselves and others in the Crestdale community. * Bring your camera if you have one, objects that represent your culture/history, and old photographs that tell your story.


Surface Design using Lost and Found Objects
Learn techniques in fabric art while telling your own personal stories of the Crestdale Community. * Bring small objects that represent your culture and history to make prints on fabric!
