I don't want to relate crime with poverty but if you do by just counting number of poor in jails, then you are right. However remember among those prisoners are there because the couldn't either buy justice, or afford a lawyer. As the gap between those who have and those who have not widen its time to address the issue before it run out of hand. The better approach to my opinion is to teach them how to fish instead of giving the handouts in the name of food staff forever.
