Coming from Yonkers, NY where there is a vast amount of gangs derived from ethnic and cultural backgrounds, I see that the biggest opportunity Charlotte has to deviate away from a Fortress Charlotte future, is educating the population on the vast cultures that Charlotte is home to and introducing these cultures, whether it is from local events being publicized more or cultural understanding beginning to be seen as more as a norm. This is something that we as a community have to become aware of and make something special happen. This decision will lead us away from the tense and segregated Charlotte we see from Fortress Charlotte. This is a decision that we have to make if we all want to live knowing that we do not have to be fighting against each other.
