While I feel that we're still in The Beat Goes On, I also feel that small steps toward becoming "eye to eye" are being taken. it makes me hopeful watching a movie clip like this

I liked that the two mothers worked in the same building and it made me think about the poverty workshop we had at the beginning of the year. Also, I feel like a lot of this stuff is going on today. Working with Albemarble Road Elementary School, we saw a lot of this happen.

Charlotte has potential, and there have been many glimmers of hope that show Charlotte is changing for the better. In my experiences been much community organization such as the Charlotte Coalition for Social Justice, which is helping tackle the issue of discrimination and building inclusive relationships with students all around Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools. This organization has, over the... read more

With a stagnant powerbase and a lost population, our city could be devoured by the desire to have, rather than to be. The seeking of status can drive away the opportunities that maybe in our minds, and should be ours, but the “should have been” of our concern is not drift but demanding dominance without earning it. Charlotte has to be a city that is known for the hard working, and dedicated... read more

When the two guys spoke to each other uptown on the church steps... I think it was cool how they exchanged positive motivation to each other. They will probably never see each other again but you never know what you can say to one another that can really stick with them for a long time. This could be something positive or negative so everyone should be aware. I think race is a huge issue in... read more

This is the ideal Charlotte. I loved this one! It reminds me of my highschool. Open minded and accepting individuals willing to work with one another and see eye to eye. I wish everyone could think like this. Our community would be absolutely amazing. The Olympic thing... i found that hilarious. But who knows what the future holds.

So nothing changes in Charlotte in this one. Those in power keep the power. Those that are the minority stay held down. Those in power keep their power by instilling fear in everyone else. Schools are still not equal, the minority schools are at a disadvantage with books, supplies and teachers. Everyone deserves the same education and opportunity. This is definitely an issue that needs to be... read more
